Arenal Volcano Tours and hotels

Arenal Volcano -- the most active volcano not only in Costa Rica but Central America as well -- ranks high on the list of "must see sights" on a Costa Rica vacation. Over 5,369 feet high above the plains around La Fortuna, a few hours ride north of San Jose, and close to the rain forests and cloud forests of Monteverde and Santa Elena, the towering cone of incandescent lava can be seen for miles, but the eruptions are best viewed after dark.
