We get our information on restaurants in Costa Rica -- such as Ronny's, the new place on the hill in Manuel Antonio – from our own experience and from people who live here. Not from travel writers and authors of guide books, who visit maybe once a year and rarely have the time to truly get to know the dining scene in this country.
North Americans and Europeans who live here have far better information on restaurants in Costa Rica, because they have time to sample more of them and to look beyond the most obvious dining spots in the major tourist zones of each region.
In San Jose, you will find French fare, Peruvian cuisine and Argentine beef. Asian food and Japanese sushi is available, and there are a number of excellent places for lunch. Beach towns naturally emphasize seafood, and we recommend the Dorado and Yellow fin Tuna. And shrimp, of course! But no matter where you go in this tropical paradise, you'll find the view is often as tasty as the meal, particularly at sunset.
