Real Estate in Costa Rica: Houses and Property for Sale

Costa Rica real estate, from houses to condos for sale in the city or on the beach, is among the most valuable in Central America. And real estate opportunities still abound in Costa Rica, the safest country in Central or South America.

Condos have become a popular choice for those seeking a vacation home or a place to retire in Costa Rica. We advise caution, as they were over-built in the summer of 2005, from one end of the country to the other, however the market is back.

If looking for a beach front home or land to build your own house in Guanacaste, this is the place to start. Areas along the Central Pacific coast and in the Central Valley around San Jose offer unique features and conveniences.

One important thing to know are that anyone can sell property or homes here. No Realtor's license is required. Also, the minimum commission is 5%, but there is no limit to how high it can go! This often leads to paying what locals called el precio gringo -- the gringo price. Another item to consider is that you’ll will need to open a corporation to own the property.
