Rain Forest Pictures of Costa Rica

Costa Rica rainforest pictures -- all our Costa Rica rain forest pictures are unique, exclusive photos of each type of rainforest: evergreen, tropical dry Pacific, tropical moist and cloud forest.

Rainforests are found throughout the country, but Corcovado Peninsula and the Atlantic Coast are home to the most extensive ones.

In Corcovado, you'll witness wildlife and birds like nowhere else, and perhaps even spot a passing whale at Drake Bay.

From Manuel Antonio south along the Pacific to Golfito, you will find more, though these are more heavily visited by tourists. In the north, you can visit Guapiles and Sarapiqui. Rain forest tours are as easy to find in these areas as monkeys in the jungle.

Cloudforests include the well-known Monteverde National Park and nearby Santa Elena National Park, both west of Arenal Volcano. You'll be amazed at the diversity of butterflies, birds (such as the quetzal) and other wildlife. East of San Jose, near the rafting center of Turrialba, Guayabo National Park (seen in photo above) is the misty of the ruins of a lost city.

Guanacaste, in the northwest, features a variety, from tropical moist To tropical dry. These are deciduous trees that shed their leaves once a year. Don't miss Guanacaste cloud forests for more about the area.

Most beachfront hotels, resorts and villas offer tours to nearby sights. To spend more time among the towering trees, stay in a mountainside lodge or retreat, or a room in Monteverde or Turrialba.
