Costa Rica Waterfalls
This is a close-up view of the waterfalls seen in the
first picture on the previous page.
These falls are found along a rainforest trail that is most easily and
safely reached with a licensed guide.
They are best approached from below, not from above, as the cliffs and
hillsides can be precarious, particularly if it has been raining a lot,
which makes them slippery and, at times, even subject to small
mudslides.
They are not as good for swimming as the big one outside the town of La
Fortuna, which has a much larger pond and more room to relax on its
shoreline.
An abundance of wildlife, birds and various kinds of rainforest plants
and trees endow this part of the Arenal National Park with a serenity
and sense of being part of nature that makes these falls a
near-religious experience for some visitors. Especially those on their
first vacation in Costa Rica or another part of the tropics.
