Corcovado National Park Costa Rica

Corcovado National Park in Costa Rica is a Mecca for eco tourists. Corcovado truly presents a rare treat for nature fans who visit Costa Rica, for biologists say this wildlife refuge, located in the Osa Peninsula near the southern border with Panama, is home to over 100 species of mammals.

Corcovado ParkAnd to nearly as many reptiles and amphibians, plus 800 kinds of birds, including the Scarlet Macaw and Harpy Eagle. Bird watching has never been more rewarding. Its 43,000 hectares encompasses eight types of habitats, from swamps to rain forests to mountains, and is home to jaguars, giant anteaters, squirrel monkeys and over 6,000 insect species (so don't forget the bug spray!) Sparkling clean waterfalls cascade into the rivers, whose banks provide shelter for even more fascinating flora and fauna

Rain Forest Rhapsody.

The rain forest is the richest and most bio-diverse on the planet, featuring Central America's tallest trees, whose canopy goes as high as an eye-popping 60 meters. You'll find more than 100 different tree species in a single hectare of rainforest -- enough to have any ecotourist singing in the rainforest.

Guides are available for a reasonable fee, and they can show you through the cool forest leading up to the base. Several of the hotels have hot springs, and there is a public hot springs alongside the left side of the road on the way in.

With the Pacific on its western edge, you'll also be able to get in some beach time, go scuba diving or snorkeling, take a day cruise or go sport fishing. There is so much to see and do here, you can spend a week or longer and still not want to leave. Part of the attraction is its isolation: if you are seeking a true "get away from it all" adventure, this is the place for you. Of all the country's National Park, this is the most secluded and unspoiled

Lodging and Transportation.

Until a few years ago, visitors had to stay at the modest cabins of research station run by various scientific organizations. Now a number of budget to luxury hotels and resorts make the adventure much more comfortable. For rate and information on our packages to Osa contact us info@costaricauncovered.com
