Sportfishing Charters, Flamingo, Costa Rica

Sportfishing charters in Flamingo Costa Rica are based in either Flamingo or Playa Coco. A few sportfishing charters are based in other towns along the coast, but in Flamingo and Coco are the home port for most Costa Rica boats.

All boats provide everything you need. Gear and tackle, bait, food and beer are part of the package. Most captains won't permit drinking hard liquor at sea, but a few cases of beer are almost mandatory for a successful fishing trip

This area, which also encompasses Papagayo Bay, with a number of resorts and luxury hotels, has become one of the fastest growing and most popular among serious anglers. Booking a boat in advance is recommended, particularly in high season.

WaveDancer, seen in the picture, is one of a small fleet of independent boats that move up to Guanacaste from Quepos in April or May. Reel Deal, works Quepos most of the year but may head north in 2005.

If you do not book a boat in advance, be sure to check in with the tour desk at your hotel or resort as soon as you arrive. This is not recommended during high season, but even then there are occasional cancellations.
