Costa Rica Fish Pictures - Sailfish

Next time take the kids and wife fishing with you in Costa Rica. This family shows how easy it can be to catch and release a monster the first time out. With an experience crew and captain, fishing on the ocean can be fun for all.

On the trip illustrated in this picture, the family brought in a pair of sailfish. Mom, the kids and dad all shared in the struggle, with assistance from the knowledgeable crew, of course.

The guy holding the deadly bill of the sailfish is the first mate. Normally, the catch is either brought along side or pulled partially aboard in order to get photos and perhaps tag it before releasing it to roam the high seas once again.

This routine is labeled "catch and release," which is standard with all captains and crews in Costa Rica
The only time that anyone actually kills a billfish in this part of the world is to prove that they have nailed a world record for that particular species. (And this does happen more than you would think down here in a land that is noted for many world records.)
