BOATS:

Ocotal boats are 32 feet LOA with 12 ft beams and a large clear fishing area, twin diesel power engines, shade top, flying bridge, outriggers and cabins with heads. They move at approximately a 20 knot cruising speed.

Ranging from 70 pounds to over 200 lbs., these fish jump, no, explode out of the water with amazing force. Day 01: Arrival. Our representative will meet you at the Juan Santamaria International Airport and transfer you to your San José Hotel. Overnight at Hotel Presidente.

Day 02: After breakfast, a mid morning private transfer to the Manuel Antonio National Park area (Central Pacific). Overnight at Hotel Karahé. Breakfast included. Afternoon free to explore bohemian fishing town Quepos or schedule and ATV jungle excursion.

Day 03: Full day of fishing. Our representative will pick you up right at your hotel to transfer you to the dock and then to board your boat deep-sea angling. Late afternoon transfer back to your hotel and overnight at Hotel Karahé.

Day 04: Full day of fishing, Overnight at Hotel Karahé.

Day 05: Full day of fishing, Overnight at Hotel Karahé.

Day 06: Free morning to enjoy Manuel Antonio. A visit to the National Park is highly recommended as well as exploring the area or just relaxing by the pool. After lunch our representative will transfer you to San José. Enjoy the evening in San José at the Hotel Presidente.

Day 07: Departure. Depending on your flight schedule, you may have time to go for a last minute souvenir or a walk around San José. Either way, our driver will be ready when you are to transfer you to the airport to catch your flight back home.

Captain Fred, a North American expatriate and his wife and two daughters have a small six room hotel on Drake Bay. They offer the hotel to divers and eco tourist who sometimes frequent the area but it's just perfect for fishing.

All rooms have ocean view, air conditioning, hot water showers, room refrigerators and safes.

Fred is a lifelong fisherman; and has fished these waters of Costa Rica for 15 years. His boat is a 28 foot Garrett powered by a quiet, smoke and vibration free four stroke Honda. The boat is equipped with a tower, head, outriggers, electronics, tuna tubes, Penn and Shimino stand-up rods, and lots of shade.

Experienced flyrodders to the novice angler are all welcome. Fred fishes using flys, lures, teasers, live and dead rigged bait. Fishing the calm Pacific waters for Marlin, Sailfish, Roosterfish, Mahi Mahi, Tuna, and Snappers is almost always productive regardless of the time of the year.

Fishing days have drinks, snacks and a great lunch packed and ready to eat while trolling. In fact, food is one of the things that makes this package unique; Fred and his wife are "foodies" and prepare some of the best meals on Drake's Bay.

Fred, loves to grill on a live fire and has a rancho specifically designed for wood fire grilling and baking. Grilled steaks, jerk chicken, pork oven baked over live coals for hours, veggies, potatoes, sweet potatoes, yucca platinos, bananas, and even grilled bread, and of course the freshest fish in town. They have very tasty green salads and fresh juices straight from the juicer. When not fishing, Captain Fred says "Beach, shorts and a grill and I'm a happy man."
